My #EveryDELLlife

August 31, 2015

I just figured that hashtag recently, if not I would have used it for every post about this DELL Inspiron 11 series 3000 :o). Anyway, I've used this laptop for 3 months now. I have to admit, sometimes work gets in the way for me to explore this laptop more. So most of the time, it's just email, browsing, microsoft office, and that's about it! Because of that, I'm still figuring new things that this laptop has to offer, which is a good thing because I keep getting surprises.

At work, one of my main duties is product development. I love love love love product development some times I wish I can just focus on it 24/7 :D. In product development, I team up with Sharon. She didn't have product development background as she is a fresh graduate, but she is passionate and knowledgeable about beauty, so for her it's a natural thing to create a platform for beauty enthusiast. Plus, she has attention to detail, eager to learn and tech savvy. That's what it takes to be a great product development.

So what is product development? It's basically creating or concepting a new product or platform and bringing it to life with the help from the IT department. There are so many things we need to consider when concepting a product. We started from research, figuring out the readers need, benchmarking, gathering the requirements from other departments (sales, editorial, marketing), making the layout, deciding on the color scheme, page architecture, creating the wording, the user experience (what happen when readers click submit), and so many other things. Then the fun begins when development is done, we have to check every page, every link, every word, replicating the user journey from different devices, reporting bugs, adding new feature, etc, etc. It's a never ending task, really. There's always things to improve! We do Focus Group Discussion as well where we invite our active members and hear the feedback directly from them.

The project management we use for product development is Trello, as you can see from the picture above. I LOVE adding/compiling things to do in there it becomes a hobby. Once I add new things to do, Eko, our IT Manager will assign it to his team. I can see in there who's doing what and once it's done, it'll be moved to the REVIEW table for me to review before it goes live.

Anyway, in product development, I do screenshot a lot to show them specifically what things to move/revise or how it looks in my gadget. Sometimes when I'm not in the office I can't just show it to them face to face. So screenshot it is. That's why I was estatic when I found out this laptop has Print Screen button on the top right corner...I've never seen something like this before..lol. It's not important for most people but it makes my life easier :).

Aside from the tiny printscreen button, this laptop is also great for product development because of it's 2 in 1 mode. Nowadays, people access Female Daily mostly from mobile, swiping away and typing from the touchscreen keypad. I can test the user experience here easily.

Anyway, enough talking about work. This laptop is also a vehicle for entertainment for me to when it's on stand in mode (movie or Youtube browsing, exercise, recipe) or when it's completely flat to do some reading. With this Dell Inspiron 11 Series 3000 I got the power of a laptop with the convenient of a tablet. What's not to love?
